INTERMEDIATE SURF LESSONS

What is an intermediate surf lesson?

One of the hardest parts of surfing is the transition from white water to unbroken “green” waves, so the intermediate surf lessons are designed to introduce paddling out back and catching green waves. These lessons run at a lower coach-to-student ratio allowing for more individual coaching during the session.

During the 2-hour surf lesson, we will focus on paddling techniques to get out back, reading waves, dropping in on unbroken waves, Tracking left and right, and surf etiquette.

Intermediate group lessons are only available during school holidays and some weekends. However, we do offer other lesson options for intermediate surfers.

-Private surf lessons

-White water to green wave weekend

FAQS

Q. When do I know it’s time to move to an intermediate lesson?

A. If you can do everything on the requirements list above then you are ready to paddle out the back, if you have any doubts chat to one of our team and they can advise you on which lesson would best suit your current ability.

Q. What do you class as an “Intermediate” level?

A. Intermediate probably encompasses the largest criteria for surfing, so to simplify what we mean when we say it is anyone ready and able to start taking unbroken waves and learn to take off at the angle or bottom turn.

Q. Are the Intermediate surf lessons just on foam boards?

A. No, we have an excellent range of hard surfboards available to use. Your instructor will recommend some board options after an initial chat at the shop. However, we would recommend using one of our performance foam boards while first learning to navigate unbroken waves and paddling out back.

Q. What is the next step from the Intermediate surf lesson?

A. There are a few options from here which are;

  1. Continue with more intermediate lessons as there is a huge amount to learn in these lessons.
  2. Take a private lesson, this allows the lesson to be fully bespoke to your needs.
  3. Hire the board and perfect all the points you have just learnt during your lesson.
